Little Week of Horrors

Well, its really not that bad. In fact, I’m very glad its Friday (12:23 AM pacific!) and I look back on the week with a very hearty, “WHEW!” We’ve been the midst of remodeling our rental in the hottest month of the year here in Portland (106, no A/C), and just happened to also be one of my busiest/most demanding weeks of the summer for work (working til 3 am, back up to finish at 5:30 am). But its weeks like that, where you quite simply CANNOT slow down or get lazy, that you end it with a satisfying twinge of pride (not necessarily the bad kind, if that makes sense) that you are indeed made of something a little stronger than what you normally expect of yourself.
Multiply that times affinity and its pretty close to how I felt after 12 hours of induced labor without pain relief!
We painted this week, and have all but the kitchen, small bedroom, and some trim to finish. You would NOT believe the amount of cleaning and work we put into it, but alas, new carpet came today and all in all, the place has cleaned up well! (Spend 2 months in a renovated garage and you will love just about ANYTHING roomier!)
I want to furnish a bit more before showing the pics, but for now you can see part of our carpet tear out below. We will be working now all weekend to move our boxes from the basement and put all of our “stuff” in its proper place as best we can. I’m on a blow up mattress right now, (our first night we can spend the night in the duplex) and I could quite literally kiss it in comparison to the futon we’ve been sleeping on! Lil’ E is in HIS room, in HIS bed (its the cutest room ever, at least in my mind so far), and I am praising sweet Jesus (not in vain) that here we are: in Portland, finishing the final phases of this incredibly loooooong move.
It feels so good to be “home”.
