Mama Need Haitus

Welcome to MamaNeedJava! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Okay, its official. I need space. Space from this blog.

Not because of the blog, but because of life.
The things going on with me, which must be censored, make it too difficult to find alternative topics.
MamaNeedJava will be on a summer vacation for awhile. I might pop on to share things I come across, but by and large this blog won’t get a lot of new content for awhile.

I hope to re-launch by the Fall. Thank you all for your prayers, support and encouragement.

Don’t kill me.

BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA.

Sometimes, the good ol’ BEE-EL-AYE is all I have to say.
Rare, but it happens.

Grass? What are we talkin about here?

So I come home today after biking back from church and Powell’s, where I had picked up a used copy of the old cookbook “Vegetarian Epicure“…
I’m sittin down, eating a bowl of nutritional yeast (I have a slight addiction). I read the following paragraph from the “Entertaining” section in my head with my best Martha Steward voice and nearly choke on my nutritional yeast - for some reason, I never saw this coming:

So, the two-hours-later course came to be. This may consist of a great bowl of strawberries and a pot of cream, or maybe hot chocolate on a cold night, accompanied by thin slices of the torte that couldn’t be finished earlier, or a platter of nuts and dried fruits with mulled wine. This two-hours-later course is especially recommended if grass is smoked socially at your house. If you have passed a joint around before dinner to sharpen gustatory perceptions, you most likely will pass another one after dinner, and everyone knows what that will do - the blind munchies can strike at any time.

Commenting

So it was brought to my attention that ya’ll were having trouble commenting these passed few days since the redesign. If you could do me a favor and comment on this one or go comment on a recent post that you attempted in the passed few days, that would help me confirm that I have fixed the problem. Thanks!

The Knit Niche

Well well well.

There certainly is a knitting craze (that has probably been all the rage for some time, but leave it to me to be the last to find out!). And I’m not the only one who thinks Portland in particular has a knitting fetish. First it was just watching these women knitting up a storm on the bus. Then it was passing all these incredibly posh knitting stores like this one and this one and this one and this one. The bug was starting to itch and now I see Fluffy Flowers creations with a sewing machine and recycled materials and I’m about to jump on the flow of the tide!

I’ve got a sneaky feeling that this little hobby would be a tad time consuming  (relative to the time available for a full-time working stay-at-home mom of a toddler?) and a tad expensive (relative to a full-time working stay-at-home mom of a toddler with about $50 to her name?)… so perhaps embarking on this little venture will have to wait. Seriously, though, check out those links and LOOK me in the eye and TELL me you don’t want a seat on that bandwagon? YEAH, that’s what I thought…
